Jerry Muenzer To Run For District 4 Supervisor

As you may know, I’ve decided to launch a campaign for San Benito County Supervisor. I never thought I’d run for public office—I’ve been a small business owner since my dad passed down the family store to me over 30 years ago.

In 1910, my family opened up Muenzers, a small town family business that has provided sporting goods and locksmith services to Hollister. Even through rough times, we’ve always stayed open for business. Not even the Great Depression shut us down.

For nearly 100 years, our community has come to rely on Muenzers for dependable and honest service and as long as I’m around we’ll be open for business.

I married my wife Carole over 34 years ago and we both agreed that San Benito County was the perfect place to raise our four children—all of whom are proud Hollister Haybalers.

When I was growing up, my parents reminded me every day that our small business could not survive without the support of the community. I’m grateful that we’re celebrating our hundred-year anniversary this year. This community has given my family a great deal and I’ve worked hard to give back.

I’ve served on the Tres Pinos school board for 8 years. I’ve sponsored Hollister Little League. I’ve served as President of the Downtown Association. And I’ve run a successful business that’s a model in Hollister. Even the Governor of California honored us as the Main Street Business of the year.

I love this community and I’ve always worked hard to make it stronger.

For several years, however, I’ve grown increasingly concerned about Hollister and the greater San Benito County region.
Our county is facing a crisis. Our unemployment rate is sky high. There are not enough jobs to keep our young children off the streets. The value of our homes has hit rock bottom. And county government is not doing all they can to protect our community.

Gang violence is up, and there have been a record number of home robberies this year.
I love this community and I think we all deserve better.

That’s why I’m running for office—because I want to make sure my grandchildren can enjoy this community as much as I have.

I will work hard to keep San Benito County safe.
I will make sure we save for the future and I’ll work every day to stop wasteful government spending.I will forge a strong relationship with law enforcement to ensure that our streets remain safe and free of gang violence.

As your supervisor, I’ll carefully consider future growth to ensure that our beautiful natural surroundings are protected and our rural character is preserved. We need to build a community that works for everyone—young and old alike.

My family built our small business on honesty, dependability, and hard work. Those will be the same values that I bring to local government.

I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work for you.
